մայթ

Armenian

Etymology

The origin is unknown.[1] Not recorded in Old or Middle Armenian literature or in the dialects. The dictionaries treat it as a new word.[2][3][4] The earliest attestation is in Baṙgirkʿ Haykazean lezui.[5] Perhaps an artificial coinage based on մոյթ (moytʿ).[6]
