Etymology

Probably from Proto-Indo-European *gʷh₂-ti-, from *gʷeh₂- (to come, step), whence կամ (kam). Compare also Proto-Indo-European *gʷémtis.

  1. standing (still), standing place, station, site
    զկայ առնուլzkay aṙnulto stop, to pause, to halt, to rest, to cease
    կալ յուղիղ կայիkal yułił kayito remain in uprightness
    ոչ լինիցի կայ թաթից ոտից քոյočʿ linicʿi kay tʿatʿicʿ oticʿ kʿoyneither shall the sole of thy foot have rest
    կա՛ց ի կայի քումkácʿ i kayi kʿumstand upright!
