լկնիմ

Old Armenian

Etymology

Ačaṙyan leaves the origin open. According to J̌ahukyan, probably from Proto-Indo-European *lēgn-, from the root *(s)lēg- (to let go; weak, feeble; loose; dissolute, lewd). Among the cognates compare especially Ancient Greek λάγνος (lágnos, lecherous, lustful), Swedish slåk (morally frivolous woman, slut), Middle Dutch lak (lustful). See լոկ (lok) for more.
