թափեմ • (tʿapʿem)  (aorist indicative թափեցի)

1. (transitive) to spill, to empty, to pour out (a liquid, a glass); to overturn, to cast down, to fling or throw down; to cast off, to discharge

   թափել զբաժակ ― tʿapʿel zbažak ― to drink off the cup to its dregs; to drink up

   թափեաց նաւն զբեռն ― tʿapʿeacʿ nawn zbeṙn ― the ship is unloaded

   թափել զատամն ― tʿapʿel zatamn ― to extract, to pull out, to draw a tooth

   թափել զդրունս ― tʿapʿel zdruns ― to unhinge the doors

   բեւեռովք զբեւեռ թափել ― beweṙovkʿ zbeweṙ tʿapʿel ― one nail drives out another (new things or persons make old ones forgotten)

   թափել զոգի ուրուք ― tʿapʿel zogi urukʿ ― to harass, to hold in suspense

   թափել զքուն ― tʿapʿel zkʿun ― to rouse oneself, to awaken

   թափել զգինի ― tʿapʿel zgini ― to get sober again, to sleep off drunkenness or debauch

   թափել ի բաց զոգի ― tʿapʿel i bacʿ zogi ― to die, to perish

   թափել զցասումն, զոխս ի վերայ ուրուք ― tʿapʿel zcʿasumn, zoxs i veray urukʿ ― to vent one's anger, to wreak one's vengeance

   թափել զթոյնս յոք ― tʿapʿel ztʿoyns yokʿ ― to give vent to one's angry passions

   թափել զմաղձն ― tʿapʿel zmałjn ― to discharge one's bile, to vent one's spleen

   թափել զտունն ― tʿapʿel ztunn ― to remove, to change habitation, to empty a house of its furniture

   թափել զսուր իւր յոք ― tʿapʿel zsur iwr yokʿ ― to draw the sword against, to brandish the sword

   թափել զինքն ի գրաստէն ― tʿapʿel zinkʿn i grastēn ― to dismount, to leap from horseback

   թափել զինչս ― tʿapʿel zinčʿs ― to spend, to dissipate, to waste, to squander

   թափել զոյժ եւ զզօրութիւն ― tʿapʿel zoyž ew zzōrutʿiwn ― to make great efforts, to employ all one's energy, to do any thing in the world; to strive with all one's heart, to sharpen one's tools, to prepare oneself

   թափել զբանն յումեքէ ― tʿapʿel zbann yumekʿē ― to interrupt a discourse

2. (transitive) to deliver, to release, to relieve (e.g. a city or a person from death, danger, captivity)

   թափել զոք յիմեքէ ― tʿapʿel zokʿ yimekʿē ― to despoil, to deprive of

   թափել զոք ի ձեռաց ուրուք ― tʿapʿel zokʿ i jeṙacʿ urukʿ ― to save one from the hands of another, to liberate, to rescue

   թափել զբարկութիւն յումեքէ ― tʿapʿel zbarkutʿiwn yumekʿē ― to free from the effects of another's resentment, to pardon

   թափել զանձն ― tʿapʿel zanjn ― to escape, to disengage oneself, to get rid off, to abscond; (figuratively) to humiliate, to abase, to lower oneself to

   ծունր կրկնեսցի թափեցելումն վասն մեր ― cunr krknescʿi tʿapʿecʿelumn vasn mer ― let every knee bend before the incarnate Word

   թափել զոք ի կենաց ― tʿapʿel zokʿ i kenacʿ ― to deprive of life, to massacre

   թափել ի միմեանց (զարս ի կռուի) ― tʿapʿel i mimeancʿ (zars i kṙui) ― to separate the combatants

   ե՛րթ թափեա՛ զմեզ ի քէն ― értʿ tʿapʿeá zmez i kʿēn ― flee from our hands!

   թափել ի լծոյ ― tʿapʿel i lcoy ― to throw off the yoke

3. (transitive) to take away, to take by force, to possess oneself of

   թափել կապուտ, աւար բազում, զկապուտ սաստիկ ― tʿapʿel kaput, awar bazum, zkaput sastik ― to make a great booty, to pillage, to sack

4. (transitive) to add (a word)

   ածել թափել ― acel tʿapʿel ― to add, to subjoin; to conclude

5. (in the mediopassive, intransitive) to pour out, to spread, to flow

   թափել աման յամանէ ― tʿapʿel aman yamanē ― to be decanted, poured from one vessel to another

   թափել ի վերայ ― tʿapʿel i veray ― to fall on (the enemy); to rush against; to dash, to dart, to rush upon

   թափել յերկնից յերկիր ― tʿapʿel yerknicʿ yerkir ― to descend from heaven

   թափել գինւոյ ― tʿapʿel ginwoy ― to recover from intoxication

   թափել հրոյ յերկաթոյ ― tʿapʿel hroy yerkatʿoy ― to strike fire, to produce sparks

6. (in the mediopassive, intransitive) to be deprived of

   թափել ի մտաց, ի խելաց ― tʿapʿel i mtacʿ, i xelacʿ ― to grow foolish, to become mad, to lose one's mind

   թափել գոյն ― tʿapʿel goyn ― to lose colour, to fade

   թափել գբոց ― tʿapʿel gbocʿ ― to be dried up, exhausted

   թափել տրտմութեան յարտասուաց ― tʿapʿel trtmutʿean yartasuacʿ ― to vent one's grief in tears

7. (in the mediopassive, intransitive) to get rid of, to free oneself from, to disentangle oneself, to flee, to save oneself by flight

   թափել յումեքէ ի բաց ― tʿapʿel yumekʿē i bacʿ ― to leave, to desert, to abandon

   ի բաց թափերուք յինէն, ե՛րթ թափեաց յինէն ― i bacʿ tʿapʿerukʿ yinēn, értʿ tʿapʿeacʿ yinēn ― be off! get out! go away!

8. (in the mediopassive, intransitive) to take refuge, to emigrate
