էրնջակ

Armenian

Etymology

A dialectal word recorded in Erzurum.[1] Amatuni normalizes the spelling to *երնջակ (*ernǰak),[2] but this is incorrect in view of the etymology.

Borrowed from a dialectal form of Turkish örümcek (spider; spiderweb). Note especially Maçka dialect erimcak[3].

Doublet of էրունջէկ (ērunǰēk) in Yerznka dialect.

  • IPA(key): [ɛɾənˈd͡ʒɑk]
