եզն

Old Armenian

Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *h₁eǵʰ-; cognate with Sanskrit अही (ahī́, cow, female of an animal), Avestan 𐬀𐬰𐬍 (azī, milking of cows and mares) and perhaps Old Irish ag (cow, cattle). In Martirosyan's view, the protoform for the Armenian may be reconstructed as *h₁eǵʰ-ih₂-m, a frozen accusative.
