From Proto-Indo-European *s/Hapʰ- or *s/Hap-s- and cognate with Ancient Greek ἅπτω (háptō), ἁφή (haphḗ).[1][2][3] Perhaps also cognate with Sanskrit अप्सस् (apsas, breast, forehead, front side), Tocharian A āpsā (minor limbs) and Hittite [script needed] (ḫappeššar-, limb, part of the body).[3] See also հափափեմ (hapʿapʿem).
