Etymology
From ապրես (apres, “well done!”). Ačaṙyan remarks that the name is not attested anciently, but Avetisyan adduces an attestation from Artsakh from 1551 in the form of Ապրէս (Aprēs).
Usage notes
Ačaṙyan observes, that the name is not used by Western Armenians.
