From Proto-Turkic *ökče (“heel”). Not attested in Old Turkic.
Cognate with Tatar үкчә (ükçä), Kazakh өкше (ökşe), Kyrgyz өкчө (ökçö), Uyghur ئوكچە (okche), Turkmen ökje, Ottoman Turkish اوكچه (ökçe, “heel”), etc.
