шәп

Bashkir

Etymology

Uncertain. Perhaps from Arabic شَابّ (šābb, young). However, the semantic shift looks dubious.

Compare with Karakhanid [script needed] (šeb, fast, promptly, immediately)[1].

  • IPA(key): [ʃæp]
  • Hyphenation: шәп (one syllable)
