Etymology

From Proto-Mongolic *kudaldu-, possibly somehow related through borrowing of inheritance with Proto-Tungusic *xuda-.

Compare Dongxiang ghudandu, Manchu ᡠᡩᠠᠮᠪᡳ (udambi, to buy), Nanai хода (price).

The element *-ldu-, is the ancestor of the cooperative in -лдах (-ldah).
