From жьэ (ẑă, mouth) + кӏэ (č̣̍ă, tail). The word may be recontructible at the Proto-Circassian level as *žāḳ’ā /ʒaːkʼʲa/. Cognate with Adyghe жакӏэ (žāč̣̍ă), жакӏьэ (žāk՚̍ă); see there for more.
