From Proto-Turkic *yeñgül (light; easy).

Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (jeŋil, easy); Tatar җиңел (ciñel), Kazakh жеңіл (jeñil), Crimean Tatar yengil, Southern Altai јеҥил (ǰeŋil, light; easy), Azerbaijani yüngül (light), Chuvash çăмăл (çămăl, light; easy).
