етәксе

Bashkir

Etymology

From *yetäkči (guide, the person who leads), which in the meaning of "manager" appears to be a Central Asian innovation; derived from *yetäk "the action of leading a horse on a lead rope, or leading a person by the hand", from Proto-Turkic *jēt- (to lead a person or animal).

Cognate with Kazakh жетекші (jetekşi), Nogai етекши (yetekşi), Kyrgyz жетекчи (cetekçi), Uzbek yetakchi, Uyghur يېتەكچى (yëtekchi, leader, manager); also compare with Khakas чидекчі (çidekçí, a blind person's guide), Tuvan чедикчи (čädïkčï, a blind person's guide), etc.
