Cognate with Sanskrit घोष (ghoṣa), Avestan 𐬔𐬀𐬊𐬱𐬀‎ (gaoša-), Baluchi ‎ (goš), Kurdish guh, Ossetian хъус (qus) / гъос (ǧos), Old Armenian գոյշ (goyš) (a loanword), etc. Relations outside Indo-Iranian are doubtful.
