большевистский

Russian

Etymology

From an ephemeral большеви́ст (bolʹševíst) + -ский (-skij) which has however reached persistent prominency in other languages as German Bolschewist. While the form большеви́стский (bolʹševístskij) has, with help by the Soviet ruling class, attained exclusivity, the exiled enemies of the reds – including in Germany – have continued to use the form большеви́цкий (bolʹševíckij), regularly derived from большеви́к (bolʹševík).
