бойондороҡһоҙ

Bashkir

Etymology

From *boyunduruq-sïz (without a yoke), from *boyun-turuq (yoke) (compare Kyrgyz моюнтурук (moyunturuk), Uzbek boʻyinturuq, Turkish boyunduruk (yoke), from Proto-Turkic *bōjn (neck).

Borrowed from a written non-Kypchak source. The native Bashkir development would be *муйындырыҡһыҙ (*muyïndïrïqhïð, without a yoke), see муйын (muyïn, neck). Also note that Bashkir uses a different term for yoke — see ҡамыт (qamït).

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): [bʊ̞.jʊ̞n.dʊ̞.rʊ̞qˈhʊ̞ð]
  • Hyphenation: бо‧йон‧до‧роҡ‧һоҙ
