Cognate with Mycenaean Greek 𐀓𐀖𐀜 (ku-mi-no), borrowed from Semitic, compare Ge'ez ከሚን (kämin), ካሚን (kamin), ከሙን (kämun), ከሜን (kämen), Arabic كَمُّون (kammūn), Hebrew כַּמֹּון (kammōn), Aramaic כַּמֹּונָֹא /‎ ܩܰܡܽܘܢܳܐ (kammōnā, cumin), ultimately from Akkadian 𒂵𒈬𒉡 (Ú.GAMUN /kamūnu/, cumin).
