ακροβασία

Greek

Etymology

Reborrowing from acrobatie < acrobate, itself from Koine Greek ἀκροβάτης (akrobátēs) from ἄκρον (ákron, peak) -βάτης (-bátēs, walker) (not from ᾰ̓κρόβασις (akróbasis, support e.g. foot of table).[1]
For figurative sense, it is a calque of French faire des acrobaties.[2]
