From ἀ- (ἀ-, not) + θιγγάνω (thingáno, to touch), from Proto-Indo-European *dʰeyǵʰ-, same source as Sanskrit देग्धि (degdhi), Latin fingō, Avestan 𐬛𐬀𐬉𐬰𐬀 (daēza, wall), and Old Armenian դէզ (dēz).
