Cognate with Manichaean Parthian [Manichaean needed] (ʾbyspʾr- /abespār-/) and Old Armenian ապսպարեմ (apsparem, “to deliver up, hand over, entrust”) (a loanword from Iranian). Ultimately from Proto-Iranian *spar- (“to hand over, entrust”) with a preverb.
