From Proto-Albanian *štšentra, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱent-r-om (compare Ancient Greek κέντρον (kéntron)) with s-mobile, from *ḱent- (“to prick; point”) (compare Latvian sīts (“hunting spear”), Old High German hantag (“pointy”)).
