zafacón

Spanish

Etymology

Possibly from English WWII slogan "Save a can" accompanying the many recycling containers, but this origin is disputed with others citing an Arabic origin which better matches the spelling starting with z, rather than s.

Noun

zafacón m (plural zafacones)

  1. (Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic) wastebasket
