Etymology

From Old Turkic yād- (yād-, to spread, spread out), from Proto-Turkic *jĀd- (to spread).[1]. Cognate with Kyrgyz жайуу (cayuu, to spread), Uzbek yoymoq (to spread). Compare Mongolian задлах (zadlah, to unleash).
