Perhaps an alteration of whisky john, a corruption of Cree wîskacân / ᐄᐧᐢᑲᒑᐣ (iiyskacaan),[1] or perhaps directly from Cree wîskicâk ᐄᐧᐢᑭᒑᐠ (iiyskicaak). See also
