vrap
Albanian
Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *awa-rapa, derivative of *repa ‘to strip off, tear off’ (modern rrjep). For sense development, compare Greek ἔδρᾱν (édrān) ‘ran away’, from δέρω (dérō) ‘skin, flay’.[1] More at rrjep. Alternatively from Proto-Indo-European *u̯er-p 'to turn, wind'. Compare Ancient Greek ῥάπτω (rháptō), Latin repens (“sudden”), Czech vráp (“wrinkle”), Lithuanian verpiù (“to spin”), Middle English wrappen (“to wind”)[2].
