From Proto-Albanian *uar(e)nā, from Proto-Indo-European *wer(H)- (to cut (off), tear). Cognate to Sanskrit व्रण (vraṇá, wound, tearing) and Avestan 𐬓𐬀𐬭𐬀 (xᵛara, wound, hurt)[1].
