tꜣnwꜣtj-jmn
Egyptian
Etymology
The Lexikon der Ägyptologie notes that this name is evidently Cushitic. Leprohon, however, considers it a variant of the Egyptian name tꜣ-nt-jmn (literally “She of Amun”), which is otherwise only attested as a feminine name. In any case, the second element is certainly jmn (“Amun”). The written form demonstrates honorific transposition.
Pronunciation
- (modern Egyptological) IPA(key): /tɑnuːɑti imɛn/
- Conventional anglicization: tanuati-amen
