tærskel
Danish
Etymology
From Old Norse þreskǫldr, þreskjǫldr, þrepskjǫldr, maybe from Proto-Germanic *þreskwaldu, *þreskwadlu, *þreskudla. Possibly related to tærske (“to thrash, thresh”) in a dated sense "to stamp, stomp, stump". Compare Norwegian Bokmål terskel, treskel and Swedish tröskel.
