Etymology

From Latin trāma, probably through the intermediate of a Vulgar Latin verb *extrāmāre, and perhaps a lost early Romanian verb *străma (compare Aromanian strãmedz, strãmari, Logudorese Sardinian istramare). Cf. also destrăma and tramă.
