Etymology
From Old Portuguese sobrencella, from Latin supercilia, plural of supercilium (“eyebrow”), from super (“above”) + cilium (“eyelid”). Doublet of the borrowed supercílio. A nasal infix developed in Portuguese, as with Romansh survantscheglia; cf. also Romanian sprânceană.
