From shaj, ultimately from çaj, with -r doubling for expressive reasons. Compare Hittite [Term?] (/šarra/, “break, rupture, divide”), Latin serra (“id”), Lithuanian sėris (“filament”)[1]. Alternatively from Latin serra; compare Aromanian sharã.
