Cognate with Old Frisian skip (West Frisian skip), Old Saxon skip (Low German Schipp), Dutch schip, Old High German skif (German Schiff), Old Norse skip (Swedish skepp, Norwegian skip, Danish skib), Gothic 𐍃𐌺𐌹𐍀 (skip).
