Etymology
From Proto-Mon-Khmer *raaŋʔ (“light, to shine”); cognate with Khasi rang (“fine weather”), Khmu [rʔaːŋ], Bahnar rang (“light”) and Khmer ស្រាង (sraang, “to glimmer”). Shorto (2006) connected this terms to sáng.
