Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *rāgnja, connected with Old Norse røkja (“to take care of”), Greek ἀρήγω (ἀrígo, “to assist, to defend”)[1]. Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *(a)ru(u)ē-, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂reu- (“to get light, brighten”). Compare Armenian արև (arew, “sun”)[2].
