rodyti

Lithuanian

Etymology

Cognate with Latvian rãdît (show, indicate), possibly Old Church Slavonic радити (raditi, take care of), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *Hreh₁dʰ- (to arrange). Compare Old Irish ráidid (talk), Gothic 𐍂𐍉𐌳𐌾𐌰𐌽 (rōdjan, speak), Icelandic rœða (talk), Sanskrit राध्यते (rādhyate, be satisfied). The root may be *Hreh₁- (to arrange); see Latin reor (reckon).

Possibly the causative of ràsti (find), but a connection is difficult due to the latter's accentuation.
