From a 1990 article by Morning Glory Zell-Ravenheart, "A Bouquet of Lovers", from poly- (from Ancient Greek πολύς (polús, many)) + Latin amor (love) + -ous.

polyamorous (comparative more polyamorous, superlative most polyamorous)

  1. Having relationships with multiple partners, with the knowledge and consent of all involved; engaging in polyamory.
  2. Open to having such relationships, regardless of one's experience or current practices.
