  • From the second part of the compound word napnyugat. [1]
  • From the same, now archaic Hungarian verb nyug (to keep quiet), the same word from which nyugszik and nyugodt derive from. This in turn derives from Proto-Finno-Ugric *ńuŋV (to rest).[2]
