Etymology
(Note that there is no Polish word *chlujny.) Related to Russian холя (xolja, “care, attention”), холуй (xoluj, “obsequious overattentive servant”), and also Polish schludny (“neat, tidy”), from chludzić (“to clean thoroughly, to have high standards of cleanliness”).
