neopenis

English

Etymology

neo- + penis

Noun

neopenis (plural not attested)

  1. The penis of a transgender person who has changed from female to male, made from the former clitoris.
    • 1994, Gordene Olga MacKenzie, Transgender nation
The neopenis can only become erect by inserting stiff material into it or by having plastic tubes implanted into the groin, so that pressing a bulb will cause the penis to hydraulically inflate with fluid and erect.
    • 2015, Vincenzo Mirone, Clinical Uro-Andrology (page 39)
Although many of the phalloplasty techniques may achieve closely the goals of a neopenis with normal urination, none of them are perfect, and therefore none have achieved universal acceptance.
