Etymology

[1811] Either from French mime (pantomime actor) or from German Mime, from Latin mimus (mime actor), from Ancient Greek μῖμος (mîmos, imitator, actor). With the verb-forming suffix -l. Created during the Hungarian language reform which took place in the 18th–19th centuries.[1]
