From minut or from a Vulgar Latin *minūtiālia, from Latin minūtia. Compare Italian minuzzaglia, Friulian minuçae, Old French menuisaille, Portuguese miuçalha.[1] See also Romanian măruntaie and its cognates, from a different but related root.
