Via German Marmelade and French marmelade from Portuguese marmelada (“quince jam”) (from marmelo (“quince”) from Latin melimēlum from Ancient Greek μελίμηλον (melímēlon), from μέλι (méli, “honey”) + μῆλον (mêlon, “apple”)).[1][2]
