From Proto-Mon-Khmer *lut ~ *luut ~ *luət ~ *lət (to slip (off, down)); cognate with Khmer លុត (lut, to slip away), Khasi loit (to untie, undress), Mon လောတ် (lòt, to fall prone). See also lọt.
