Etymology
Formed as a singular from Old Catalan llémenes, feminine of a masculine plural llémens[1], from a Vulgar Latin *lēndinem, accusative of *lēndō or *lēndis, as a variant of Latin lēns, lēndem (perhaps altered under the influence of Latin cimex, cimicem). Compare Portuguese lêndea, Italian lendine, Romanian lindină.
