lever frame

English

Noun

lever frame (plural lever frames)

  1. (rail transport) a frame in a signal box in which levers that operate signals and points are mounted.

Usage notes

Signal boxes and their lever frames are gradually being phased out, a process that has taken many years. Lever frames will probably still be found on heritage railways however.
