From Proto-Albanian *laurā, from Proto-Indo-European *leu, etymologically identical with Lithuanian laure (“dirty person”)[1].

From Proto-Albanian *laurā, a rebuilt form after the stem in -eh₂, from Proto-Indo-European *leh₁u- (“stone”). Cognate to Ancient Greek (Hom.) λᾶας (lâas, “stone”) and Old Irish líe (“stone”) and perhaps Old Armenian լեառն (leaṙn)[2].
