Etymology 1

The adjective, suffixed with +‎ -ný is derived from Old Czech harrow, earlier grind, crush, which is from Proto-Slavic *krušiti. This was probably derived from Proto-Slavic *kruchъ ("piece, fragment"), but the reverse way is also possible.[1]
