From Old Portuguese, from justo + -eza, or possibly from Latin iūstitia, jūstitia[1]. Compare Spanish justeza, Galician and Asturian xusteza, Catalan and Occitan justesa, French justesse, Italian giustezza, Friulian justece. See also justiça, possibly a doublet.
