From Old Turkic yigren- (yigren-, to be disgusted, abhor), maybe from Old Turkic yīg (yīg, raw, uncooked (meat))[1], from Proto-Turkic *jigren- ( ~ -e-) (to hate, abhor)[2]. See çiğ.
